Kayaking
Ocean

popular. Take a guided tour of our scenic waters and beaches.
There are a number of kayaking tour guides on Salt Spring Island.
We recommend Island
Escapades, which offers kayak tours, multi-day expeditions,
winter escapades and more. Of course Lake kayaking can be very
enjoyable as well so look no further than St Mary Lake, right
our front door.
Golf
Salt
Spring Island is home to two golf courses, Salt Spring Island
Golf and Country Club (website)
and Blackburn Meadows Golf Club. (website)
Salt
Spring Island Golf and Country Club a par 72, 6000 yard course
that is a challenge for all levels of golfers and is about 1 kilometre
from Cottage Resort. Black Burn Meadows is a par 3 style organic
golf course. Both courses have a driving range. Ask us about our
special Golf & Stay packages.
Tennis
Salt
Spring Island Tennis club offers year round courts at Portlock
Park (covered and lit) (website)
and
an easy warm-up stroll from Cottage Resort. Two public courts
are also located at Fulford behind the firehall.
Hiking
Salt
Spring Island has some outstanding hiking trails - both on beachfront
and mountainsides. A great way to see some remote parts of the
Island, visitors can hike the wide variety of trails. Check with
us for hiking maps. Favourite hikes include Mount Erskine, Mount
Maxwell, the Hope Hill trail, Ruckle Park, Duck Creek Park, Mouat
Park Trails, Channel Ridge, and Reginald Hill.
For
company and ideas, the Salt Spring Island Trail & Nature Club

is
one
of the islands largest associations with over 200 members. Drop-in
guests are welcome and, from September through until June, there
is a Tuesday "ramble", "walk" or "hike"
with varying degrees of difficulty to choose from. Please call

Cycling
Salt
Spring Island's renowned beauty is best seen from the seat of
a bicycle. A popular activity throughout the summer, cycling on
Salt Spring is considered an intermediate level. Mount Maxwell
and other locations provide excellent mountain biking. For those
who prefer the road, cycle the assortment of paved and unpaved
scenic rural roads with little traffic and challenging terrain.
We recommend the Studio Tour by bicycle. Cottage Resort can be
an excellent home base for extensive cycle tours on Salt Spring
and around the Cowichan Valley and Sannich Peninsula on Vancouver
Island. Consider a cycling winery tour!
Ocean
and Lake Access
Of
course Cottage Resort has one of the finest beaches on the largest
lake on Salt Spring so you may find you need go no further for
water access. However, for those wishing to explore other water
access points find out more about the beautiful beaches of Salt
Spring Island.
