new and developing at Cottage Resort on Salt Spring Island...
Personal
Creative Retreats On Salt Spring
Salt
Spring is home to a plethora of writers, artists and crafts people
of all kinds who have found the Island a sanctuary for deep creativity
and healing.
A
new program guided by local writers, artists, musicians, sculptors
and those in the healing arts will make use of the island's many
talents and resources to support off-islanders in personal creative
weekend and week-long retreats.
Retreatants
stay in a self-contained cottage overlooking St. Mary Lake. Mornings
might be spent writing, painting, or other art, or meeting with
mentors tin one-on-one consultantions to support a work in progress,
the exploration of new crreative mediums or deeper creativity
(i.e. releasing creative blocks).
Afternoons
offer a wide-range of choice, including touring the island's artists'
studios, visiting local galleries and bookstores, hiking on the
island's many trails, and visiting the famous Saturday Market
for one-of-a-kind crafts, organic breads and vegetables or other

Gatherings
are held in the newly renovated Art Barn as pictured.
What
else to Do?
The
Island is alive with the arts. ArtSpring has a full schedule of
music and theatre planned for the fall season. Check their website
for more information.
Recreation
opportunities abound as hiking and canoeing can be quite pleasant
at this time of year. The fishing is pretty good as well as the
trout are biting.
Our
public indoor pool opened in 2008 and it has a full program of
public swimming whether it be lap swimming or Aquafit classes
or just splashing around. Check the pool's website
for schedule and rates. Similarly our yoga and fitness studios
welcome drop-in visitors.
Many
of the Island's fine restaurants have great menus often using
our local produce. Some will have live music adding to the experience.
We
